Ouch! What was that? You're sitting completely relaxed on the sofa with your baby and then suddenly your baby bites you! We get it, it really hurts ... After all, the nipple is super sensitive. And tiny little teeth are razor sharp. But don't worry, this is really the exception rather than the rule. If your baby belongs to the "teether" team, then today's blog article is for you. Because our midwife and expert Katrin Ritter knows why some babies do it and has some helpful biting-related chestfeeding / breastfeeding tips for you.
Baby bites while breastfeeding: When does it start?
On average, babies' first milk teeth come in between the sixth and eighth month of life. However, some babies start teething earlier (3rd/4th month) or later. And some are born with their first tooth already in their mouth. So, from the moment teething starts, an accidental bite can occur. Fortunately, teeth appear in the lower jaw first. And the baby pushes the protective tongue over those teeth when latched/sucking.

We've all been there: you've been pacing up and down the room for what feels like hours, your little one is lying in your arms or sitting in the carrier and is finding it difficult to fall asleep. But they really need it! And you had already planned to tackle some of your to do list or get some rest yourself (aka some doom scrolling on the sofa)! No matter what you try whether you sway, sing, bounce on your birthing ball - if it just doesn't work and you get more and more overwhelmed... this is where the basic problem lies as our midwife and sleep expert Katrin Ritter knows. Because one of the magic words in baby sleep is relaxation and your child can’t be relaxed if more and more external stimuli are acting on them.
The story of the sabre-toothed tiger: why baby won't sleep unless held!
To find out why, let's take a quick look at the science of baby sleep. A baby needs to be warm, full, and tired to fall asleep. But not only that. They also need to be relaxed, and to feel safe and secure.

Has your baby been unhappy for days, crying a lot and drooling and chewing on everything in their path? Then a tooth is probably on the way. A really challenging time for your little darling, but also for you. Because the helplessness you experience as a parent during this time is simply awful.
After all, you want to take away your little one's pain or at least be there to sympathise with them. But how? “How to help a teething baby” is a universally searched-for phrase by parents – it might even be how you came to find this blog! And anyway: how do you even know that it's the teeth that are tormenting your baby?
After all, it is often the case that a baby is teething but there is no tooth in sight. Together with our midwife and babywearing expert Katrin Ritter, we take a look behind the scenes of teething and explain what's going on in your baby's jaw.
So here they are, the most pressing questions (and answers) about teething babies.

We love it when you test our products. That’s when we really find out what you like about our practical everyday helpers and where we can improve. It's important we know if we've really got the best baby bouncer out there and if we can make it even better. So after we tested our Ergobaby bouncer, the Evolve 3-in-1 Bouncer, with 26 families at the beginning of this year of which we received 5 out of 5 stars, we wanted to put it to the test with the professionals. We asked twelve midwives and health experts (from 7 midwifery practices, 1 physiotherapy practice and 1 parent-child competence centre) and their families (more than 100 people in total) what they think of our ergonomic and evolving bouncer.
"Great everyday companion" – the Ergobaby Evolve impresses in the baby bouncer test
What can we say? All participants, experienced baby experts from the field, would recommend our Evolve 3-in-1 baby bouncer with full conviction. They said things like the bouncer is:
“the best baby bouncer

As a parent, it’s heart breaking to see your little one feeling unwell. A baby cold or a baby cough can be a BIG problem for sleep for both baby and you. It's so hard to comfort them while meeting all their other needs whilst trying to help them (and you!) get the rest they need. Sometimes it can be overwhelming.
Our UK sleep specialist Gemma Coe is a mum of two herself and is a certified baby and child sleep consultant. She helps families all over the world develop healthy sleep habits.
Today, Gemma gets you equipped with the knowledge and tools to create a comfortable sleep environment for your sick baby, adjust sleep routines and expectations during illness, and provide nighttime care that promotes rest and recovery.
Understanding the Impact of Illness on Baby Sleep
It’s no surprise that when a baby is sick it can disrupt their sleep. Those little bodies are working overtime to fight off the infection and illness, which can lead to more frequent waking in the night for care needs to

How to change a nappy, how to pick a baby up, how to put a baby down - these are things you probably do on autopilot, especially if you’re used to being around babies. But our midwife and babywearing expert Katrin Ritter recommends conscious and mindful movements done in the same way you move your own body. This means that rather than baby being moved by you, you become one and support them in carrying out the most natural movement.
This both strengthens your relationship and promotes the development of your newborn's movement. Your child communicates with you through movement and touch. This is how kinesthetics, the science of movement sensation, sees it. From the very beginning, a baby has a great need for closeness and physical contact. It likes to be touched and it develops its abilities by moving together with you. You are an important interaction partner for your child.
So what does that mean in everyday life? The goal is to support your baby as little as possible, but as much as

Winter is coming and even if winter brings more rain than snow these days, we still have our share of chilly weather! With that comes the question of what to dress baby in during the winter months. After all, young babies cannot regulate their own body temperature, they can cool down or overheat quickly. In short: our baby is dependent on our help. So how do we do it right? A baby snowsuit is super cute but is it always the best choice? Or is there a better way to keep baby warm but not too warm? Today, let's take a look at different everyday situations and explain how to dress baby for them.
Dressing baby for winter: what baby winter clothes do I need and when?
First of all, the magic word for preparing your baby winter clothes is: LAYERS! This is the only way to be prepared for every situation. Both indoors and outdoors.
Create a good base of long-sleeved bodysuit and tights, or a romper suit. Then - depending on the room temperature and age - a jacket or jumper and trousers. It's

Why does my baby keep waking up every hour or two? How much sleep does a baby need? When does baby sleep finally start to get better? And of course, when do babies sleep through the night? As a midwife, our expert Katrin Ritter receives a lot of questions about sleeping. Read on below for her answers to your most asked baby sleep questions.
Why is baby sleep so important?
Sleep is a very individual matter and only works with relaxation. As your baby has a lot of developmental work to do in the first year of life and is growing rapidly, baby sleep naturally changes too. In the first months, your baby first must adapt to the world outside and learn what gravity, eating, digesting, sleeping and being awake mean. At some point babies/children learn that waking up at night is quite natural and that you can just go back to sleep. However, in the beginning they need their parents' help to do this. Later on, children learn to regulate themselves more and more and can continue sleeping on their
